Tottenham Hotspur continued its recent form as they added another win in the Premier League. This win makes it the seventh win in a row in the Premier League. They got a nice win this week by taking down Watford 4-0. Dele Alli broke open the scoring in the 33rd minute when he received a pass from Son Heung-min. Alli’s shot curled into the top corner over the outstretched arms of the Watford goalkeeper. Just six minutes later, Eric Dier doubled their lead when Son crossed the ball into the box, but was deflected before getting across the box. The ball bounced at Dier’s feet where he finished the bouncing ball from just inside the 18 yard box.
Son finally got a goal of his own right before halftime in the 44th minute when he ripped a shot with his left foot from about 25 yards out. The shot was low and hard going directly past the goalkeeper diving to his right side. The game would remain 3-0 until halftime, however Tottenham would not wait long after the start of the second half to get their fourth and final goal. Just nine minutes into the second half Son put away his second goal of the game when Kieran Trippier sent a cross in from the right side that went over the head of all the Watford defenders. At the far post Son made a run in and finished the cross with a half volley.
Watford would not threaten the Tottenham defense very often, there were few isolated attacks, but Watford came out with nothing to show for it. Hugo Lloris earned the clean sheet only having to make two saves for the game. Son Heung-min ended the game with two goals and one assist in 88 minutes of play.
Harry Kane returned from injury for Tottenham in their match against Watford on Saturday. Kane came on as a substitute in the 62nd minute replacing Vincent Janssen. This was his first match since March 12th when he injured his ankle in a Football Association Cup Quarter-final against Millwall. He returned for dull practice on April 7th, which left Manager Mauricio Pochettino with a decision of whether to start or sit Kane.
Pochettino said after practice that “Today he was involved with the team and we’ll see tomorrow if I decide that he starts the game or if he will be on the bench but the good news is he is ready and he feels good, fully recovered and I think it is very good news, first of all for him, and then for us.”
Hugo Lloris who missed their midweek game against Swansea due to illness was be revaluated before the game against Watford. He also did return and got the start versus Watford. He earned a clean sheet with two saves.
